The State Board of Agriculture investigated subjects relating to improvements in agriculture in the Commonwealth and served as board of overseers to the Massachusetts Agricultural College. The Dept. of Agriculture, responsible for supervision and development of agriculture in the Commonwealth, had an Advisory Board of Agriculture until 1954, when it was placed under the supervision and control of the Board of Agriculture; its successor, the Dept. of Food and Agriculture, is under the supervision and control of the Board of Food and Agriculture. Series consists of minutes recording actions and decisions of the various boards to 1918 and from 1954.
